Bay Front Chamber Member Spotlight

Bay Area Girls Club – 50 Years of Empowering Future Leaders

We are proud to shine this month’s Bayfront Chamber Member Spotlight on a powerful organization that has been shaping young lives for half a century—Bay Area Girls Club (BAGC).

Established in 1975, BAGC was founded by a group of visionary women who saw a need for a safe and enriching space for girls in Richmond, CA. Since then, the organization has grown into a pillar of support for underserved and underrepresented girls throughout West Contra Costa County, particularly those from communities of color.

BAGC serves girls ages 5–18 with a mission to inspire confidence, resilience, and success through transformative academic, enrichment, and recreational programming. Their key initiatives include:

  • Take Care of You (TCY): A 10-week mental health and self-care program for girls ages 6–11.
  • GETT to Work: A workforce development and mentorship program for middle school girls that includes job readiness training and paid internships.
  • College Bound Girls: A program designed to provide college access support through national college tours, scholarship application help, and career guidance.

With over 48 years in the same building in Richmond, BAGC has been a consistent and impactful presence in the lives of thousands of young women. Their efforts help combat societal risks such as gang involvement, school dropout, and mental health struggles by providing positive alternatives and empowering resources.

This year, Bay Area Girls Club is proudly celebrating 50 years of service—a milestone achievement that marks decades of impact, advocacy, and transformation.
